Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, Seminole Electric Cooperative is one of the largest generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperatives in the country.
Consisting of one 714-megawatt coal-fired generating units, the Seminole Generating Station began commercial operation in 1984 and is located on 2,000 acres in Putnam County, just north of Palatka and about 60 miles south of Jacksonville.
The Seminole Combined Cycle Facility (SCCF), located in Putnam County, Florida, adjacent to Seminole Generating Station. SCCF is a state-of-the-art natural gas fired generating facility with a rating capability of more than 1,183 megawatts.
Seminole operates a 2.2-megawatt Cooperative Solar facility located in Hardee County, Florida, adjacent to the Midulla Generating Station. The Midulla Generating Station (MGS), located on the Hardee/Polk County line, is an 624-megawatt facility that uses natural gas as its primary fuel with an additional 314 megawatts of peaking capacity. The combined-cycle facility consists of two natural gas-fired combustion turbines, two heat recovery steam generators, and one steam turbine.
